Card Game InstructionsOnline Card Instructions
Materials Needed: One or more decks of international playing cards, counters or other objects for counting your winnings (buttons, beans, etc), and a pencil and paper for keeping track of the scores in more complex games. Colors | Snap | Cheat | Old Maid Players: 2 or more Difficulty: very simple Age: 7-5 yrs One whole deck is used. The players take it in turns to be the banker, who fixed the stake. Each player then chooses a color: red or black. The banker shuffles the deck and deals three cards to each player. If two or all three cards in your hand are your chosen color, the banker pays you the stake. Otherwise, you pay the banker. Players: 2 or more Difficulty: simple Age: 5-8 yrs OBJECT: Win all the cards. RULES: The game is played with a normal 54 card deck (including Jokers). If there are six or more players, two packs are used. All the cards are dealt out one at a time face down to each player. The players then take the pole which has formed in front of them and, without looking at the cards, take it in turns to turn the top card over and put it in the middle of the table and form a new pile. You must do this so that all the players see your card at the same time and you do not see it before them. If any player turns over a card which is the same type as the top card on the pile in the middle of the table, the first player to realize it shouts out "snap." For example, if the top card on the table is a King and you put another King on top of it, you (or anyone else) can shout "snap." The first player to shout "snap" wins the whole pile in front of him. He then starts again by laying the first card of a new pile in the middle of the table. When a player has no cards left in his hand, he is "out" and cannot shout snap. The winner is the only player left with cards in his hand when everyone else is out. If no snaps occur, no one wins, the cards are reshuffled and the game starts again. Players: 2 to 10 Difficulty: simple Age: 5+ OBJECT: To be the first player to get rid of all their cards. RULES: One standard pack of 52 cards is used (without Jokers). All the cards are dealt out clockwise one at a time. Some of the players may receive an extra card according to how many players there are. The players pick up their cards and look at them. A turn consists of laying one or more cards face down on the tale and calling out their rank and the number of cards laid (i.e. two nines or three Kings). The player on the left side of the dealer goes first and must lay one or more Aces. The second player must then lay twos on top of them, the third, threes and so on. If a player does not have the right cards he can lie and play other cards. Any player who does not believe that another player has played the right cards can call "cheat". In this case the last cards played are turned over. If the player has lied he must pick up all the cards on the table and add them to his hand; if, on the other hand, he has told the truth, the person who said "cheat" has to pick up all the cards. Play then continues normally from the accused player's left. The winner is the first person to get rid of all his cards. Players: 2 or more Difficulty: simple Age: 5+ OBJECT: To avoid ending up with the "Old Maid" (extra Queen). RULES: One Queen is removed from a standard pack leaving 51 cards (the Jokers are also removed). All the cards are dealt out clockwise one by one. Some players may end up with an extra card, but this does not matter. The players look at their hands and throw away any pairs (two cards of the same rank, for example two Kings). The dealer starts. A turn consists of fanning out your cards and allowing the player on your left to take one at random without looking and add it to his hand. If it makes a pair, the new player discards the pair; otherwise , he keeps the card. The new player then offers his hand in the same way to the player on his left, and so on. Once you have got rid of all the cards in your hand you are safe. The loser is the player who ends up with the unpaired Queen.
